I guess it’s about time for me to actually try my hands on a pavlova. And since I LOVE strawberries very much, I planned to make one with lotsa strawberries on top! 😀
First, I would need a “good” recipe. So I began googling for one, comparing here and there. And finally I’ve decided to try the one from FoodNetwork.com. It was meant for a “Mixed Berry” Pavlova but I’ll stick to my strawberries-only! 🙂
Basic ingredients of pavlova is the meringue-based cake! So I’d need egg whites, superfine sugar, a little bit of salt, cornstarch, vanilla extract and white/red wine vinegar.
First I mixed the egg whites at a high speed until soft peak stage, like this:
Next, I added the sugar, a tablespoon at a time while mixing it until firm and shiny. The feeling I had at this stage was exactly what I had when I first tried the Italian Meringue Buttercream, and the meringue turned out beautifully – happy!
Once it’s firm, I’ve removed the beater, added in the rest of the ingredients and folding the mixture until combined. This is how it looks like before baking:
I’ve set the oven at 130°c and baked it for 1 and half hours. Then I let it cool in the oven for another hour. Here goes my baked meringue:
Then it was time to whip up the cream. And my most favorite part – prepared the strawberries! 😀
And……. ta-da! My yummies Strawberry Pavlova ready to be served!
